New for British retailer John Lewis and available online and instore is our new ‘Laguna metal shelving collection’ available in 2 colour options, Linen & Sienna and a selection of different sizes. Designed by Leonhard Pfeifer in 2024 for Danish producers Unique Furniture the collection was shown at the 2024 IMM Cologne.

Inspired by the form of a breaking wave frozen in time, the sofa merges the armrest into the back cushion, wrapping around the seat in a signature ‘hug’ that not only ensures exceptional comfort but also evokes a sense of emotional connection.

Inspired by loft living with an industrial feel these shelving systems are a classic 'Pfeifer' design - multifunctional, clever, robust and timeless - everything our customers and home buyers have come to expect from us.

This clever design is a group of 4 segments that are black one side and oak veneer the other. Each segment can be flipped over to create a variety of black and oak patterns. Also, replace one of the segments with 2 low boxes for simple compartments.

We are always thrilled when a great selling piece of furniture we designed not only gets the love it deserves but is then expanded into a full collection. Milo sideboard now has a couple of sister pieces available from Tikamoon.com

The collection now consists of an 4 pieces, with the addition of a solid mango wood sideboard, TV unit (140cm), a 2 sizes of vanity units (164cm & 78cm).

Vaxa sideboard by PFEIFER Design

Snocker is our new studio space and where I plan to resolve all my future age-related issues. It is a new space for us to expand our design practice and to really explore our process, experiment with materials and get messy. A space where we can make mistakes, learn about new ideas, refine our sculpting skills on a larger scale and launch our new pieces under our Batch Living brand.

The word ‘bach’ (pronounced batch) is a colloquial term for a small beach-side house in New Zealand and is where Leonhard spent most of his summers as a child. Leonhard and I are both from islands, one is big, the other a large cluster; so being by the ocean is where we feel most at home.

Leonhard is home right now ‘working’ with our sick 6 year old under foot. Which has us thinking once again about lockdowns, homeschooling and working from home.

PFEIFER is looking for someone to take our social content to the next level, help grow our online presence and to build and nurture our design-led community. The job title probably fits into ‘Digital content creation’ but we are more interested in your story and how you can help tell ours.

Here at PFEIFER, Leonhard and I too like to ‘let an idea marinate’ in our minds for some time, until it is ready to be useful or evolve into its final conclusion.

Which led to our conversation - does something hold its value if that value is not common knowledge? Or is something only valuable because a handful of people understand its importance? Does value increase or diminish because it can be overlooked by those not ‘in the know’ and then treasured by those who do?
