Keep the hallway free from clutter with a place to store jackets, hats, bags and umbrellas
As we bring our winter coats out of retirement, hallways can end up cluttered with the layers we pile on for the season. A good coat stand helps keep things organised for the whole family (plus guests) and ideally keeps umbrellas and other essentials out of the way too.
Plenty of hooks, at a range of heights and at different sizes, means there is a place for everyone and everything – including shorter jackets, hats, and bags. Most take up a space around 40cm to 50cm square on the floor, but distinctive styles and those that branch out at the top, look best with a bit of space around them. See the rest of the article here.
Leonhard Pfeifer for House by John Lewis Eigen Coat Stand
This unusual stand has a tiered design that looks great alone, but less sculptural when piled with coats. You can hang clothing from the vertical parts, as well as using coat hangers on the horizontals. Putting it together is fairly easy, although some customers found the pre-drilled holes less than precise. It is made in solid oak and takes up a floor area roughly 48cmx48cm.
